A Little League coach in DuBois has apologized after instructing his kids to turn their backs while the opposing team was introduced.

The Jeffersonian Democrat in Brookville, PA reports the 9 and 10-year-old boy’s All-Star team turned around while the Brookville All-Stars were being introduced.

Brookville’s manager Kevin Smith told the Democrat that “DuBois league officials and coaching staff apologized for the move after the game.”

There is no word on why the players were told to turn their backs, but a coach does appear to be giving instruction while the Brookville players were being introduced.

The Fan’s Colin Dunlap commented on the situation after a Twitter user shared a video of the incident.

“Here’s the context… coaches told these kids to turn their backs. Later apologized. Is this a big deal? I don’t know. I probably would have handled it differently but I’m not going to vilify people either. Live and learn.”

Other commenters were not as kind, with one saying, The coach could have taught the kids more bout respect by facing whatever perceived slight was made, rather than creating a little spectacle.”

DuBois won the District 10 Tournament opener 9-5 and will move on and face Punxsutawney Thursday.

Brookville goes into the losers’ bracket and will waits the loser of Bradford Vs. St. Marys.
