Hosts Dan Zangrilli and Mike White, High School Sports Editor from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, discuss how the boy's and girl's basketball season will look this year.
It's a truncated season, with some high schools requiring student-athletes to wear masks, even during competition. Some schools do not require masks. Those that do, and those that don't may not agree to competition against one another.
What problems arise from these decisions that each school district decides unilaterally?
Additionally, the WPIAL has decided on an open field playoff format, where all schools make the postseason. This hasn't occurred since 1984.
Dan and Mike are joined by Butler boy's basketball coach, Matt Clement to discuss the challenges his team faces.
Also, Baldwin High School administrator, John Saras, whose school is requiring masks to be worn during competition, joins the program to explain why.
