PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday you don't often see George Pickens drop passes, but admits that he did against the Bengals on Saturday.
Tomlin made it sure to point out he wasn't the only person to drop a pass or miss on a very routine play. For the season, Pickens has a career-low 57.3 percentage of catches per targets. Among elite wide receivers, Amon-Ra St. Brown is the gold standard at 81.6%. Of receivers with at least 10 starts, that puts Pickens 53rd in the league in catch percentage.
The third-year receiver finished with one catch for no yards against Cincinnati and since his return four catches for 50 yards and no touchdowns. In the win against the Ravens, Pickens had eight catches for 89 yards. The Steelers have won one game all season where Pickens had less than 53 yards receiving, that was a 13-6 win over Denver where he had two receptions for 29 yards.
"I'm looking forward to him bouncing back and looking forward to us bouncing back with this next outing," Tomlin said.
As for the broadcast footage showing him apparently getting upset at a fan? Tomlin said it was news to him and he didn't want to speculate by commenting.
