PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – News and notes from the Steelers 26-18 win over the Giants on Monday night. The notes like-the Steelers 14 plays of 10 yards or more in the first half were the most in a half since Week 2 of 2018. The quotes like ‘that’s why they are called special teams, because they are always special.’
Najee three-peat
With 114 yards rushing, on 19 carries, it was the first time in Najee Harris’ NFL career he has had three straight 100-yard games. He is the only player in the NFL with 70 or more scrimmage yards in eight games this season.
“It’s good to see Najee doing his thing,” said quarterback Russell Wilson. “He’s had several weeks in a row that he’s been special running the football.”
“I feel like he just has the utmost confidence in himself,” said Steelers tackle Dan Moore. “I think we’ve been doing a great job on offense, executing, giving him some space. It just feels like he is having fun out there. He is in a zone and we feed off that as an offensive line.”
Russell Wilson
Monday night was the 98th regular-season game with a passer rating of 100 or higher, which is the most in the league since he entered in 2012 and the 8th most in NFL history. Wilson finished 20-28 for 278 yards, a touchdown and a 114.9 rating.
“I felt more fluid,” Wilson said. “I haven’t really missed many games in my lifetime. You’ve got to be able to adjust and respond. I think that’s the part about these kind of games. As you go on in the season, as we get down the road, each game is going to continue to be a heavyweight fight.”
Turn it over
Since 2019 the Steelers have forced multiple turnovers in 50 different games, which is the most in the NFL. Their 152 takeaways during that same time are most in the NFL. Their 52 fumble recoveries since ’19 are fourth-most in the NFL.
“We just have a lot of guys that can make plays,” said TJ Watt. “We have a lot of confident. We do it a lot in practice.”
Watt said assistant coach Denzel Martin puts on film all of their turnovers, near turnovers, practice turnovers and the turnover plays around the league to prepare them for every Sunday.
Boswell Area 3
Monday was the sixth game this season Chris Boswell had multiple field goals. It’s the 13th time in his career with at least four. The last time was the first game of the season when he hit six for all of the Steelers points in beating Atlanta.
He is 23 of 24 this season with the only miss being a 62-yard attempt at Acrisure Stadium. His career average is now 87.9% and in attempts of 40 yards or longer he’s 80.3%. In the fourth quarter and overtime, Boswell hits 92.9% of his attempts.
