PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A Panthers Big East rival is back on the schedule. Jon Rothstein of College Basketball Insider and CBS Sports said Pitt and Villanova have agreed to a home-and-home series starting this season.
The game this year will be at Villanova with the return to the Pete in the 2026-27 season.
Pitt leads the all-time series 13-4 including winning the last six. The only meeting outside of conference play, Scottie Reynolds made a layup with 0.5 seconds to beat the Panthers 78-76 in the 2009 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in Boston. The last meeting was a Pitt overtime win 73-64 in March of 2013 as Talib Zanna had 14 points and 19 rebounds.
Another Big East foe, Providence, is a matchup for an exhibition game this year.
