Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes has been voted the National League Pitcher of the Month for July after posting an amazing 0.67 ERA.
Skenes gave up only two earned runs over 27 innings pitched in July with 36 strikeouts, a 0,89 WHIP and hitters batting .212 against him.
Over those five July starts, Skenes held opposing teams scoreless in four of his five starts (going at least 5 innings in each start).
Skenes is the first Pirates pitcher since Ivan Nova to win the Pitcher of the Month. Nova did it in April 2017.
Skenes is also the eight Pirate (10th time) to win the award in team history.
The 23-year-old is 6-8 this season with a 2.02 ERA. Skenes has suffered from a lack of run support this season.
