One mock from Pro Football Focus’ Austin Gayle has the Steelers trading their pick at #20 to get a quarterback.

Gayle’s mock has the Las Vegas Raiders trading quarterback Derek Carr to the Steelers in exchange for the Steelers 2022 first-round pick, 2023 first-round pick and 2022 third-round pick.

The Steelers would have Carr for one year with a cost of $19.8 million. Carr becomes a free agent in 2023.

Gayle says with Josh McDaniels taking over as Raiders head coach, it is an “increasingly unlikely scenario” that Carr will remain with Las Vegas.

With Carr under center for the Steelers, Gayle believes that Pittsburgh is in a better place than Las Vegas in regards to getting a playoff berth next season, pointing out the Steelers were able to do it with a 39-year-old Ben Roethlisberger last season.

Two first rounds picks and a third rounder for a team that has a lot more holes than just at quarterback might be a bit too steep a price for the Steelers.

If they were to offer that kind of deal to the Raiders, it would be hard to see them passing that up.
