PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pirates saw a 7-1 lead disappear but held on for a 10-9 win against the Twins Saturday at PNC Park.
Spencer Horwitz hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead. The Twins responded with a Victor Caratini RBI double to tie the game 1-1.
The floodgates opened up in the bottom of the second inning for the Pirates. Jake Mangum blasted a home run, Nick Gonzales singled home two runs and Oneil Cruz hit a three-run home run to give Pittsburgh a 7-1 lead headed to the top of the third inning.
After the Twins got one back in the top of the third, they responded in the top of the fourth with a five-spot to tie the game.
Tristan Gray brought in two runs with a double, Josh Bell added two more with a double and Kody Clemens tied the game with an RBI single.
Both Mitch Keller and Bailey Ober allowed 7 earned runs in the game. Keller gave up 10 hits in 4 innings pitched. He struck out 5 batters.
Pittsburgh got the lead back with a Jake Mangum RBI single in the bottom of the 5th.
Jared Triolo singled home a run in the bottom of the 7th and Bryan Reynolds hit a sac fly to the outfield to score the 10th run of the game for the Pirates.
Minnesota wouldn't go away, they scored two more in the top of the 8th to cut the Pittsburgh lead to 10-9.
Gregory Soto slammed the door on the Twins in the top of the 9th with his 7th save of the season to secure the 10-9 Pirates win.
