Pitt Panthers takedown Louisville Cardinals, move into second in ACC

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Panthers have moved into a tie for second place in the ACC after their win against the Louisville Cardinals Wednesday night.

The Panthers improve to 6-2 in the ACC and 13-6 overall as they took down the Cardinals 75-54 in a game that looked to be put away early.

Louisville actually started the game well in the first 10 minuets, keeping pace with Pittsburgh, but so did Nike Sibande off the bench. Sibande knocked down 4 three-pointers in the first 11 minuets.

Pitt entered the second half with a 9-point lead and Louisville came out aggressive again to start the second half, but the closest they would get the rest of the game is 6 points behind the Panthers.

Greg Elliot led the scoring for the team with 32 points and going 9-12 from the field, including 5 three-pointers.

Jamarion's Burton recorded his first double-double with Pitt, throwing up 10 points and a career high-tying 11 assists, as well as getting 3 steals in the game.

It ended up a dominant showing as Pitt scored 14 three-pointers, outshot the Cardinals  49% to 39%, and outscored them on turnovers in a lopsided 25-9.

Pittsburgh locks down their fourth straight road win and hand Louisville their eighth straight loss.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday against the 6-13 Florida State Seminoles at the Petersen Events Center 3:00 PM EST.
