PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He set a Pitt freshman record for passing yards in a game, Monday quarterback Mason Heintschel honored by the conference as the ACC Rookie of the Week, receiver Kenny Johnson as the Receiver of the Week.

Heintschel threw for the sixth most yards ever by a Pitt quarterback in a game finishing with 423 yards in a 53-34 win over North Carolina State Saturday at Acrisure Stadium. It’s the third time he’s won the award beginning with his first career start throwing for 323 yards and four touchdowns against Boston College. Then the pair of touchdowns and 321 yards in the upset win at Florida State. Heintschel leads the ACC in total offense, passing yards per game and passing yards and is second in passing efficiency in conference games.

A junior from York, PA, Johnson named the ACC Receiver of the Week after seven catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Last week at Syracuse it was Johnson’s 66-yard punt return at the end of the first half that turned the game around. Johnson also had over 100 yards receiving against Boston College, nine catches for 115 yards and a touchdown. Johnson is eighth in the conference with 502 receiving yards for the season.

Pitt plays at Stanford Saturday at 3:30p with pregame coverage on 93.7 The Fan starting at 12:30p.
