Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco is not off to a great 2021 season.

He's currently batting .170 with 18 strikeouts, nine walks, nine hits and 3 RBI.

While he continues to struggle, there's no question that he continues to work hard.

Polanco is the highest-paid player on the team with a large contract, putting the Pirates in a difficult situation. They can't trade him and don't want to DFA a player making $11 million.

After finally getting a hit late in Thursday's game, Polanco put his arms up in the air to seemingly thank God for getting off the snide.

And that wasn't the only time he raised his arms in the air.

Fans at Comerical Park in Detroit on Thursday, asked the right-fielding Polanco for a little help starting the wave.

"Gregory help us," one fan yelled from the stands. Polanco looked over his shoulder and threw his arms up in the air to help start the wave in the stands.

Say what you will about Polanco's play behind the plate, but the guy works hard and is still having fun.
