PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Most consider him a second-round pick, anywhere from pick 33 to the end of the round. A few mock drafts have Ohio State tailback TreVeyon Henderson going late in the first round. The 5’10”, 210-pound All-Big 10 back visited the Steelers on Tuesday.
Henderson (3,761 yards) trails only Archie Griffin, JK Dobbins, Ezekiel Elliott and Eddie George on the Buckeyes all-time rushing list and his 48 career touchdowns are third all-time. He had 11 plays from scrimmage over 50 yards (eight rushes, three receptions) including a 75-yard catch and run TD against Texas in the College Football Playoff.
He had the top athleticism score at the NFL Combine among tailbacks with the third overall score. His 4.43 40-yard dash was seventh best. Henderson is ranked with the best pass-protecting RBs in the draft and marry that with his receiving ability, might be the best combination of the two on third downs. He made the big block to free quarterback Will Howard to secure the Penn State game and had a total of five touchdowns in the FBS postseason in 2024.
NFL.com says he’s a bit undersized to be a primary ballcarrier and lacks change of pace and creativity at times. His intangible of doing whatever the team needs is a quality teams covet. Henderson led free football camps for children as part of his NIL while in college.
Also visiting Tuesday is Central Florida running back RJ Harvey. He’s 5’8”, 205 pounds who ran a 4.4 40-yard dash and had the same production score as Henderson at the NFL Combine, however his athleticism was ranked 12th overall.
Harvey was Third Team AP All-American setting a school record with 48 total touchdowns. In 2024 he was sixth in FBS with 1,577 yards, 6.8 per attempt. He will be around on Friday, but likely on Saturday of Draft day as well. NFL.com says his ceiling is likely as a backup. They rate him as a below-average pass protector with average instincts, but gets better as the game progresses with good pad level.
