A list of the highest-paid coaches in the United States is out and Mike Tomlin is toward the top of the list.
Kurt Badenhausen reports in Sportico that Tomlin is tied for 5th on the list with Jim Harbaugh of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Both make $16 million a year, per the report.
Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach is the highest-paid at $20 million a year.
He’s followed by Denver Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton ($18 million), Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr ($17.5 million) and San Antonio Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich ($17 million), to round out the top five.
Badenhausen reports Tomlin got a big pay bump in his latest contract extension. Prior to the new deal that runs through the 2027 season, Tomlin was making $12.5 million.
Tomlin has been praised, even by critics, this season for his part in helping the Steelers to an 8-2 start to the season.
When the Steelers moved on from 4-2 starting quarterback Justin Fields, in favor of veteran Russell Wilson, Tomlin reportedly when “Lone Ranger” with the decision.
With the way things are going for the Steelers, Tomlin is among those being discussed for Coach of the Year, an award he’s never won.
