According to reports, Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will return to the field after missing last Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints with appendicitis.
First reported by Post-Gazette Steelers reporter Gerry Dulac, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that Fitzpatrick only missed one game because doctors were able to remove his appendix before it ruptures.
“That dramatically shortened his recovery time,” said Rapoport.
That won’t make Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow happy.
Speaking in the days leading up the game Burrow told reporters, “Maybe just wait another extra week.”
Burrow was speaking from experience, he was coming off appendix surgery when he played the Steelers in Week One, an overtime loss for the Bengals.
Fitzpatrick missed one other game his season, Week Six against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 26-year-old has three interceptions this season for 78 yards and one touchdown.
He has a total of 45 tackles on 2022.
