PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Most already know quarterback Aaron Rodgers has hosted the most famous quiz show in TV history, ‘Jeopardy’, and he’s taken his host abilities to Steelers wide receiver meetings.
DK Metcalf said when the receivers meet with Rodgers, he will quiz them about the plays just to make sure they are all on the same page. It’s not that he’s Alex Trebek standing in front asking about potpourri for $600. It’s a tool Rodgers uses to cut down on the miscommunication and mental mistakes.
This is not directed at just Metcalf.
“He doesn't quiz just me, he quizzes everybody,” Metcalf said. “He'll just pull out his notebook and everybody is on eggshells because you never know who he’s going to call on.”
It must have helped, Metcalf said the focus as returned in practice Wednesday and Thursday, there haven’t been many mental errors or mistakes in practice. He called it a ‘great two days’.
They’ve also practiced for looks they may not be expecting. Preparing themselves for the defenses they haven’t seen before and making sure they can handle when that happens.
It’s been a rough start for the veteran receiver through two games with only eight catches for 67 yards on 19 targets and that includes a couple of drops. Metcalf is the seventh highest paid receiver in the game, but 81st in yards early in the season.
“My teammates have been doing a great job of keeping my head up and making sure I don't get too low on myself,” Metcalf said.

He’s using practice to ‘sharpen his sword’ and regain his confidence. The 28-year-old has faced adversity before and feels he has an idea of how to handle it.
“Just take advantage of my opportunities and not count my targets or reps or anything like that,” Metcalf said. “Whether it's blocking or anything, just make sure I do my job and do it to the best of my ability.”
We haven’t seen it yet as the Steelers head into a first AFC North game hosting Cincinnati Sunday.
