Steelers fourth-round pick this past draft, Calvin Austin III, is returning to practice after a preseason injury.
Austin remains on the team’s Reserve/Injured List and Pittsburgh has 21 day to elevate him to the active roster. If he is not, he cannot return for the rest of the season.
During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Tomlin said that Austin was eligible to return to practice this week.
The fast wide receiver out of Memphis suffered a foot injury in the preseason and was placed on short-term IR, missing a minimum of four games.
Austin didn’t play in any of the preseason games for the Steelers.
Austin may be one of the players who will handle punt returns after Gunner Olszewski has fumbled two.
Tomlin expressed is displeasure with Olszewski and alluded that his job is in serious trouble this week.
