Steelers President Art Rooney II plans on having a full Heinz Field when the Steelers host their first preseason game on August 21 against Detroit.

"We're planning on having full capacity. The trends are all headed in the right direction, and we're excited about getting our fans back in the stadium," Rooney told Steelers.com.

Rooney also is encouraging anyone who isn’t vaccinated that can to please do so.

“That's the best way for everything to get back to normal,” added Rooney.

The state of Pennsylvania’s coronavirus mitigation efforts expire May 31 and barring any future mitigation efforts, the Steelers, along with other teams in PA, will be able to operate at full capacity.

"We're still in a situation where we have to be prepared to adjust, and certainly we will be, but where things stand today and the way things are trending we feel good about being about as close to normal by August as possible. We're looking forward to being pretty close to back to normal by then," said Rooney.

The NFL has also told teams that they will be able to hold training camp outside of their normal facilities after 2020 Training Camp was held at Heinz Field.

While Rooney says the plan is to hold Training Camp at Saint Vincent in, they may not make the trip to Latrobe.

"If we can't have fans, I'm not sure we would go to training camp up there," said Rooney. "That's certainly a big part of it – to be there with our fans. Our fans love being up there.
