Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson gets to experience his first Pittsburgh/Baltimore rivalry game this Sunday. Could it be the first of many more?
Talking to Hannah Storm on ESPN, Wilson said he wants to play in the NFL longer than you may think.
“I definitely want to play another five to seven more years,” said Wilson. “I think that’s always been my goal, I’ve been very clear about that since the beginning.”
Other than the calf injury that kept him out the first six games of the season, Wilson has been relatively healthy during his decade-plus NFL career.
“I feel great, I feel young, I feel I can still move around out there and make all the decisions and all the throws,” said Wilson.
But even though he expects to play into his 40s, his focus is on the Baltimore Ravens.
“My focus in here, right now is winning this week and then hopefully winning the next one and the one after that and the one after that and then you get the end of the season, hopefully you’re holding something that we’ll forever remember,” added Wilson. “I had a goal of winning a couple more and that’s why I came [to Pittsburgh].”
After it seemed like Wilson would be here for only one season, it looks like there will be more quarterback questions at the end of the season, if Russ continues to play well.
A 36-year-old Russell Wilson or 26-year-old Justin Fields next season?
