Major League Baseball will put rookie sensation pitcher Paul Skenes on full display Tuesday night during the All-Star Game in Texas.
While he may be the center piece of the MLB tonight, he’s just on loan from the Pirates.
Speaking during his weekly show on 93.7 The Fan, Pirates Manager Derek Shelton confirmed that Skenes will only pitch one inning.
He says the Pirates told Major League Baseball that Skenes is only going to pitch one inning.
While the whole world may want to see it, a showdown between Skenes and Yankees star hitter Aaron Judge is not guaranteed.
Skenes will face Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan, Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson and Yankee outfielder Juan Soto. Judge is batting 4th.
If One of those batter can get one and there isn’t a double play, we will see Skenes/Judge.
If Skenes doesn’t get to face Judge in Arlington, there’s a chance they will face off before the season ends.
The Pirates will head to Yankee Stadium to play New York to end the season in late September.
Shelton says that while Skenes may not pitch to Judge, it’s not like Kwan, Henderson and Soto should be overlooked.
“You got the guy that’s leading the league in hitting, a guy that’s leading the league in home runs and Juan Soto, who’s probably one of the top five best players in baseball,” said Shelton.
The All-Star Game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
