BUFFALO (93.7 The Fan) – List the things the Steelers couldn’t do and on the top of that list is what killed the Steelers in the first half. A double-digit underdog at the second-best team in the AFC, a pair of fumbles and an interception on second-and-goal from the four-yard-line.
Bills would turn the first fumble by George Pickens, overturned from an incompletion on a Bills challenge, into an immediate 29-yard touchdown from Josh Allen to Dalton Kincaid to give the Bills a two-touchdown lead.
TE Pat Freiermuth would fumble on the next Steelers opportunity and it was ruled the Steelers retained possession. They drove down to the Bills four-yard line, but on second down-and-goal, Mason Rudolph threw an interception to Kalir Elam in the corner of the endzone.
Bills would need eight plays to go 80-yards scoring as Allen started to scramble on third-and-seven and ran by the entire Steelers defense for a 52-yard touchdown.
It was Allen barely converting on a third-and-one on the first drive of the game followed by passes of 20 and 15 yards followed by another of 12 yards, a run of 12 yards by James Cook and a nine-yard touchdown to tight end Dawson Knox.
Steelers would stay in this game after Montravius Adams blocked a 49-yard Tyler Bass field goal. Nick Herbig would record the ball as it caromed backwards at the Bills 33-yard line. Rudolph would hit Diontae Johnson from 10-yards out to make it 21-7.
In his last six quarters against the Steelers, Allen is 35-52 for 569 yards and six touchdowns passing. He rushed for another 103 yards and a touchdown.
