PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Throughout training camp and into preseason camp the Steelers have rotated different defensive backs, not only internally, but several have been given opportunities externally. Steelers added another one on Tuesday.

Safety Brandon Hill signs a one-year deal and the team released receiver Joaquin Davis.

A Texans seventh round pick in 2024, Hill bounced on and off the active roster and practice squads and a couple of stints on injured reserve with Houston. Here is the connection, he was on the Raiders practice squad last year for a couple of weeks in 2025, when now Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham was defensive coordinator.

Hills started this year signing a futures contract with Houston, released and signed with Denver in May, released and signed by Chicago August 8 and then cut from the Bears on August 11.

He’s played two NFL games and will have a few days to make an impression with the 53-man roster cuts coming on Sunday.

“It’s a work in progress, I think clearly special teams is a big part of that too,” Mike McCarthy about the secondary before announcing the Hill signing. “A lot of answers will come from special teams Thursday.”
