Steelers add veteran guard amid injuries

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers add a veteran guard and several other moves while putting guard James Daniels on the injured list on Tuesday with practice for Dallas beginning on Wednesday.

Daniels is done for the season, so the team signed guard Max Scharping to the active roster off the Washington practice squad. The 6’6”, 28-year-old has started 33 games in his career, having played in 79. The last two seasons he played 31 games on special teams with Cincinnati and in three years in Houston made his 33 starts including 14 his rookie season. Sharping spent training camp with the Eagles after Cincinnati released him. He also could be an emergency center and played some tackle in college.

Steelers also added a pair to the practice squad

·     RB La’Mical Perine returns after being with the Steelers in the entire training camp and three preseason games. Running back rook currently dealing with injuries to Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson
·     OLB Eku Leota played special teams the last two seasons with Carolina and was released last week
