Another week, another time the Steelers go on the road as a double-digit favorite...and that's not a good thing.
Over a recent 15-year stretch in the NFL, there were 78 instances of NFL teams being double-digit home underdogs. The Jaguars right now are +10. In those 78 games, the double-digit home underdog went 46-30-2 against the spread.
It is incredible difficult for road teams to cover double-digit spreads on the road.
Remember that week 9 game at Dallas where the Cowboys were on their 4th quarterback of the season and the Steelers were double-digit road favorites? What happened there? The Steelers only won by 5, 24-19.
Jacksonville will be going with their backup quarterback this week in Jake Luton as starter Gardner Minshew is already rules out for this game.
If you heard Mike Tomlin this week though, the real threat for the Steelers is Jaguars running back James Robinson.
Tomlin said, "One of the things that really captured my attention is this running back James Robinson. I can't say enough about him and the respect I have for what he has done...When you look at the tape, hiss tyle of play is impressive."
The Jaguars will rely on that rushing attack to keep the suddenly high-flying Steelers offense off the field as much as possible. That's not to say they'll succeed, but rather slow the game down to the point where it will be difficult for the Steelers to cover a 10-point spread.
I actually like the Jaguars +10.
