LATROBE, PA (93.7 The Fan) – The 58th year of Steelers training camp at St. Vincent closed with what head coach Mike Tomlin called a spirited practice as the team will head home Wednesday after a closed morning workout.

“It’s been a really good experience up here,” Tomlin said Tuesday after the final public practice. “It’s been highly competitive. We just really appreciate this environment. The energy and support we get from our fan base here is special.”

It’s the most fans that have been to Steelers camp since COVID, thoughts were maybe since 2018. Many to see Aaron Rodgers wearing black and gold for the first time in his 21-year career. After his first experience Rodgers said he loved the night times at the dorms, sitting around talking football, talking life, playing cards or video games. He said he will definitely miss those times.

“Mike (Tomlin) talks about it being things you can’t measure,” Rodgers said. “(Monday) we had a home run derby here, (I’m) ragging on Christian Kuntz making errors on the hot corner. It’s those moments that you love. As much as I’m looking forward to my bed. I will miss this experience because it’s really special to make this walk down the hill every day and see the fans in the crowd, even when it’s a hot day.”

“It’s pretty special.”

“We appreciate this environment, this experience up here,” Tomlin said. “Not many teams go to destination camps anymore and we value it. We value not only the tangible work up here, but the intangible work. The comradery, the informal moments is really special.”
