The Steelers made two moves on Monday, the day players returned to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for offseason workouts.
They confirmed the signing of free agent linebacker Tanner Muse to a one-year deal and claimed kicker Braden Mann off of waivers from the New York Jets.
Muse was the 100th overall pick in the 2020 draft by the Raiders out of Clemson. He was placed on injured reserve by the Raiders in September 2020 and had season-ending surgery in November that year.
After being waived by the Raiders at the beginning of the 2021 season, he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks.
The 26-year-old played in six games in 2021 and all 17 last year, starting in one.
He had 20 total tackles and one pass defended.
Mann was drafted by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2020 draft out of Texas A&M, where he won the Ray Guy Award in 2018, given to the nation’s top punter.
He’s appeared in 43 total games and played in all 17 for New York last season.
Mann averages 45.5-yards a punt and has a 39.8-yard net average.
In all, he has 206 career punts for 9,362, including 60 inside the 20-yard line, 14 touchbacks and 42 fair catches.
Two of his punts have been returned for touchdowns and one blocked.
He has also been used for kick offs.
