Steelers clarify recent talk on Aaron Rodgers & Broderick Jones

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers general manager Omar Khan touched briefly on the status of talks with Aaron Rodgers and Broderick Jones health after national reports about both Monday morning.

QB news

It’s the line you’ve seen for a couple of months from the Steelers.

“We’ve had some great communication with Aaron, nothing has changed,” Khan said Monday at the Steelers annual pre-draft news conference on the South Side. “It’s all been positive and good. I said this to you guys in March when we met, he knows what we feel about him and we know how he feels about us.”

Khan said Rodgers situation doesn’t change draft evaluation. They still will consider a quarterback in this draft regardless. It's just a matter of how the draft shakes out, per Khan.

Tackle injury

Broderick Jones suffered a neck injury and missed the last six games of the 2025 season. There was a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday that Jones suffered a setback, Khan disputes that.

“Nothing has changed, still working to get back to where he needs to be,” Khan said. “No new information from when we last spoke in March.”

“He’s in the medical group, a number of guys are in that group,” McCarthy said. “We are just trying to establish a common language. We went over the fundamentals of football today, they haven’t changed. We are just taking the steps of starting from the beginning and he has participated.”

Khan added it’s still early in the process and they will see where Jones rehab will go. They have not ruled out him playing nor has anyone ruled out Jones’ return to the NFL.
