PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed TJ Watt had a medical procedure on Thursday and has been released from the hospital. He is at home resting and will not play in the game Monday night.

Watt’s brother, JJ, released on social media Friday that doctors had to repair a partially collapsed lung suffered Wednesday after a dry needling treatment session at the team facility.

Tomlin said he doesn’t know if Watt would just miss this week or other games. He said he hasn’t looked beyond the game against Miami on Monday.

The Steelers head coach said he had few others details about medical questions, saying he was getting information second-hand.
He wouldn’t dispute what JJ Watt reported.

Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen says he gets acupuncture and not dry needling, saying that performing acupuncture takes more schooling and is more scientific. That he is actually scared of dry needling.

“Having a teammate like that in that position, it definitely sucks and it is definitely crazy,” Queen said. “You wake up and are thankful for the small things in life. Every single day it could be something new. We have to be grateful for the things we do have and the things we don’t have to go through that everyone else goes through. That’s the biggest thing I take from this.”
