The Indianapolis Colts surprisingly released three-time first-team All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard on Tuesday.

At 28, Leonard is still relatively young, but the next team that takes a chance on him, has to deal with a history of injury in the past year or so.

He had back surgery in 2022 to fix a back issue.

He only appeared in three games last season was hurt in his first game back in Week 4 with a broken nose and concussion and then reinjured his back in mid-November, missing the rest of the season.

Leonard hasn’t been himself this season starting in nine games with 65 total tackles, two for a loss with no sacks, forced fumbles or quarterback hits.

But, even with the injury history, Leonard could show the Colts they made a mistake releasing him when he joins another team.

One betting site, PennStakes.com, says the two Pennsylvania teams have the best chance of landing him.

Both the Steelers and Eagles have +600 odds at 14.3 percent.

That’s followed by the Bills and Bears at 10 percent, Cowboys and Texans at 9.1 percent and 25 percent is “other”.

Even though he was released, Leonard was volunteering in the Indianapolis area on Wednesday, giving out food for Thanksgiving.

"It was the biggest surprise ever but I don't make those decisions," Leonard said speaking to reporters.
