The Steelers have officially terminated linebacker Joe Schobert’s contract.

The move clears up over $7.8 million in cap space for Pittsburgh and brings $1.4 million in dead cap money.

Schobert, who started in 15 games at inside linebacker, came to Pittsburgh after a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars during training camp last season.

He had 70 solo tackles, one interception for 23 yards, one forced fumble and six passes defended.

After the Steelers signed free agent linebacker and former Jaguar Myles Jack to a two-year deal, it was pretty much assured that Schobert would be out, especially with the amount of money his contract carries.
