PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – In a sign that either Skylar Thompson is ready to return from injury or rookie Will Howard could be activated from the Reserve/Injured List, the Steelers terminated the contract of Logan Woodside Tuesday.

Woodside was signed after Howard’s hand injury during training camp before being released at the start of the season and then re-signed after the Thompson injury.

Howard’s injury came in early camp and aside from a few sideline throws, the sixth-round pick hasn’t taken reps in a practice setting since training camp in Latrobe. Thompson had a big preseason, throwing for 498 yards and four touchdowns in three games. The veteran was involved in an incident in Dublin, Ireland but suffered no further injuries from apparently being jumped while on the streets.
