Steelers to interview former Carolina OC, Rams assistant

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers first in-person interview to be offensive coordinator is 37-year-old Thomas Brown who spent last season in charge of the offense with the Carolina Panthers. This first reported by the Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac.

Brown is from the Sean McVay, Rams coaching tree and won a Super Bowl with Los Angeles in 2021 as the assistant head coach and running backs coach. His previous experience is all in college including as the Miami Hurricanes OC from 2016-18, previously the running backs coach at Georgia in 2015 with Sony Michel and Nick Chubb running for 2,513 yards. He was Melvin Gordon’s running backs coach at Wisconsin and previously the RB coach at Marshall and Tennessee-Chattanooga.

The fifth-leading rusher in Georgia history (when he left) with 26 total touchdowns, Brown helped the Bulldogs to the 2005 SEC championship. He was drafted in the sixth-round by the Falcons and spent 2008 in Atlanta and then two seasons with the Browns.

Carolina was last in the NFL in passing yards with rookie Bryce Young at quarterback. The Panthers were 20th in rushing yards with a league-worst seven rushing touchdowns.

Pro Football Talk reports Brown will interview with the Titans on Monday.
