It’s only one game, but it’s the first time in nearly 60 games, the Steelers put up over 400 yards of offense.
For the first time in 58 games, the Steelers had 421 total yards.
It’s also the first game the Steelers did not have offensive coordinator Matt Canada calling plays after he was fired last Tuesday.
Cincinnati’s defense isn’t anywhere near elite, but it can’t be a coincidence that the Steelers were able get over 400 yards with Canada gone.
That’s 58 straight games and there have been some pretty bad defenses the Steelers faced during the time and they weren’t able to get over 400 yards of offense.
Kenny Pickett is far from being the quarterback the Steelers need him to be, but he looked better and actually threw the ball over the middle of the field.
Tight end Pat Freiermuth had over 100 yards.
It was the first game with Eddie Faulkner as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan calling plays.
PFF has been brutal to Pickett this season so far, deservingly so, but they had him ranked 3rd among quarterbacks with an 89.0 grade.
With games against Arizona and New England coming up, The Steelers need to continue the momentum and rack up a couple more 400 plus games on offense.
The Steelers need to keep improving on offense, but Sunday’s game showed how much Canada was hurting the offense.
