Steelers were 'allegedly' all-in on getting Rodgers

It may have never been a real possibility, but it looks like Steelers were serious about getting the MVP

On the Pat McAfee Show, one which Rodgers appears frequently, the Plum native said “allegedly” the Steelers were serious about trying to acquire the future Hall of Famer.

“Allegedly the Steelers were in this thing the entire time, now you guys got Mason Rudolph as a starter,” said McAfee.

A member of McAfee’s staff Tone Digs, a huge Steelers fan, said he’s glad Rodgers is staying in Green Bay.

“Super pumped, I don’t know why the Steelers would give up three first round picks for a 38-year-old quarterback,” said Digs.

Digs added that the Steelers would’ve been mortgaging their future to get Rodgers.

McAfee says that Rodgers reached out to him Tuesday morning to tell him about his decision to stay in Green Bay.

While it’s likely Rodgers was just using other teams like the Steelers to get a better deal with Green Bay, reports that Pittsburgh was actively pursuing the reigning MVP shows they are being uncharacteristically aggressive.

With Rodgers’ future now decided, we now go back to all of the other free agents, possible trades and QBs in the draft the Steelers could bring in to compete with Rudolph and likely Dwayne Haskins.
