PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Yet another quarterback visiting the South Side, Monday, Syracuse record-setter Kyle McCord is making his official pre-draft visit as first reported by Fox Sports Jordan Schultz.
McCord only spent one year with the Orange but is their all-time record-holder in total offense per game (362.6 yards) and passing yards per game (367.6), while second in passing efficiency (148.8) and completion percentage (66) and third in yards per attempt (8.73). In 2024, he had 12, 300-yard passing games. While it might not be easy to believe after he the three, Pick Sixes against Pitt, he went his last 234 attempts without an interception. He also set the ACC’s all-time passing yards record with 4,779 while throwing for 34 touchdowns.
6’3”, 220 pounds out of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, McCord attended St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, and his first three college seasons at Ohio State, going 23-1 as a starter with 3,776 yards and 27 touchdowns in 13 starts.
NFL.com ranks McCord as a good backup with the potential to develop into a starter. He has always been an attacking quarterback and will hang in the pocket, but with that comes taking chances. He has the ability to make chunk plays with above-average arm strength.
Pro Football Focus ranks him as the ninth-best quarterback prospect and the line they use about him makes you wonder about the fit with the Steelers offensive scheme ‘McCord isn’t for the faint of heart’.
He is likely a Day 3 selection in the Draft and is preceded in QB visits by Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough.
Also visiting Monday are Minnesota defensive back Justin Walley and Texas running back Jaydon Blue.
