PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Four years a backup tailback, and special teams ace with the Eagles, Gainwell bet on himself on a $1.79 million, one-year contract with the Steelers. He got a bigger role in Pittsburgh and the 26-year-old finished with 1,023 combined yards and eight touchdowns and voted by the players as the team MVP.
Gainwell turned that into a two-year, $14 million contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he was going to make Gainwell a lot of money, he did.
That leaves the Steelers with two tailbacks on the roster, Jaylen Warren and second-year Kaleb Johnson.
