Depending on how much it costs, the Steelers picking up quarterback Justin Fields could be more of a possibility than some think.
There has been rumors that the Chicago Bears may trade Fields for a second or maybe even third round pick.
Mason Rudolph reportedly wants a fresh start and Mitch Trubisky has shown he just can’t lead a football team as QB1.
With only Kenny Pickett likely left in the quarterback room, the Steelers are going to go out and get someone to compete with Pickett, as Head Coach Mike Tomlin said during his final news conference of the season after the playoff loss to the Buffalo bills.
NFL Network speculated the Steelers could go after free agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill to reunite with his former OC, who is now leading the Steelers offense.
“With new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, the expectation is Pittsburgh will explore adding free agent Ryan Tannehill, who had his best years with the Titans while Smith was the OC there.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on the Pat McAfee show Monday that there is another player that Tomlin likes Fields.
“I know, Mike Tomlin’s a big fan of Justin Fields, we’ll keep that in mind during the offseason and the coming weeks,” said Schefter.
Another option, Russell Wilson.
Tomlin still seems to be behind seeing what Pickett can do under a new offensive coordinator, but after watching the Super Bowl, it’s hard to see the former Heisman Trophy finalist rising to that level in a season.
Can Fields, Tannehill or Wilson be that guy for the Steelers?
