Tomlin 'leaving the light on' for Ramsey and Austin

The Bye Week appears to be just what the doctor ordered for the Steelers.

Mike Tomlin says things are looking good for the return of cornerback Joey Porter Jr, linebacker Alex Highsmith and running back Jaylen Warren.

Porter Jr. told reporters on Monday he would be back for this Sunday’s Browns game after suffering a hamstring injury in Week One against the Jets.

Highsmith, dealing with a high ankle sprain, told reporters that he’s feeling good about coming back against Cleveland.

Tomlin said Warren, who missed the Ireland game with a knee injury, “looked really good yesterday” said Tomlin.

Somewhat surprisingly, Tomlin didn’t rule out cornerback Jalen Ramsey or wide receiver Calvin Austin III.

Austin was injured in the Vikings game and hospitalized with a shoulder injury and Ramsey left the game in Ireland with a hamstring injury.

Tomlin said Ramsey and Austin will be limited at the beginning of the week and they’ll see how they respond that the week continues.

“Both of them, highly aggressive from a rehabilitation standpoint during the bye week, so really encouraged by those guys,” said Tomlin.
