PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Lost maybe in the excitement of this year’s first-round draft pick signing on Sunday, was the news about an injury to last year’s first-rounder.
Pirates righty Seth Hernandez pitched only three innings in his last start and is dealing with an oblique injury per Pirates GM Ben Cherington. No other information about his status was given. He has not yet been put on the injured list.
Hernandez is the sixth overall prospect in the game according to MLB Pipeline. In his first pro season, the 20-year-old is 6-1 with a 2.43 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 31 walks and 118 strikeouts in 74 innings.
