According to a report from Steelers Post-Gazette insider Gerry Dulac, recently cut quarterback Mitch Trubisky was asked by someone within the organization to send a message to Kenny Pickett after he was drafted.

Referencing an article in the PG, Dulac was asked by Rich Eisen on his show Monday if it really happened.

Dulac confirmed that it did in fact happen and added, “no wonder he played as though he was always looking over his shoulder after that.”

“To do that was . . . tone deaf and believe me that did happen, yes,” added Dulac.

Dulac says there were “other things” that Trubisky was asked to do, but refused to reveal those things in his article or with Eisen, but say he may tell him in private and when he does, Eisen “won’t believe it.”

According to Dulac, he was told by two people “who would know” that Trubisky was asked to show support for Pickett just a month after he was signed after free agency.

Trubisky struggled as a starter in Pittsburgh, losing his job twice.

In 2022 he lost his job to Pickett after four starts and lost it again after Pickett was injured this past season after losses to New England and Indianapolis.

He was replaced by Mason Rudolph, who went on a winning streak to help the Steelers make the playoffs.

Trubisky went 2-5 in Pittsburgh with eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
