PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – There is another Valdez pushing to make an impact in the majors, infielder Enmanuel Valdez named the International League Player of the Week after hitting .400 with three homers, 11 RBI and a 1.304 OPS over six games.
After spending his career with the Red Sox, the Pirates traded for the now 27-year-old in December of 2024 and he got a taste with them last year. In 102 at bats hit .209 with a .294 on-base percentage and .657 OPS with four doubles and a pair of triples and home runs.
Overall this season in AAA the left-handed hitter has played first base (six games), second base (nine games) and third base (28 games) is hitting .261 with a .324 OBP and .794 OPS with 14 doubles and 10 home runs in 64 games. He has also been the designated hitter in 18 games.
Outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez is hitting .310 with a 1.021 with five doubles and six home runs in 22 games with the Pirates since being called up from AAA Indianapolis.
