PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Their connection resulted in one catch for no yards, yet Russell Wilson said he has no doubts in George Pickens going forward after the 19-17 loss to the Bengals Saturday night.
“I believe in George,” Wilson said succinctly after the game.
Pickens was targeted six times against Cincinnati and to come up with that one catch for zero yards.
He had several drops including one deep in Bengals territory early in the third quarter and a couple in the fourth quarter including on a third down. This comes after a week after catching only three of seven against the Chiefs in a week Wilson said ‘it didn’t go our way’ which included Pickens appearing to give up on a route.
Wilson said everything is not always going to be perfect for everyone. He said it’s an imperfect game. But George has elite skillset and we hear often about his competitiveness and desire to win. We see his frustration when others make a mistake. All of this aside, Wilson will go right back to him without a concern.
“I believe in who he is, the player he is,” Wilson said. “He’s been a star for us all season. You know, he’s going to be a difference maker for us in the playoffs obviously, and I’m looking forward to that and what he can do.”
“What we can do together.”
“I’m not blinking on George. If anybody believes in him, I definitely do. I have no hesitation to throw the football to him and what he means to us and our football team.”
