LATROBE, PA (93.7 The Fan) – Russell Wilson said he’s working every single day to be ready to go by the regular season. Will he play in the Steelers final home preseason game on Saturday?
Wilson said it’s the coach’s call on whether or not he will play against the Bills
“I’m doing everything I can to be ready to go,” Wilson said.
The 35-year-old credited the team training staff and said he will continue to be smart and his focus is just on being better tomorrow. He said he doesn’t play with fear. He won’t play scared if he were to get into the game. Wilson also noted he's been around the game for 13 years and knows what he needs to do to be ready.
“I’ve been working every single day, even the days where I was a little bit lighter in team,” Wilson said as the Latrobe part of training camp closed on Wednesday. “I was just getting all the fundamental work. Obviously, the last two weeks, I’ve been building up a lot more reps in the team drills. That’s been great. I’ve been full for the past several days. Feel really good, I’m ahead of schedule and just staying the course.”
He said he’s excited for the opportunity to practice against Buffalo Thursday at Acrisure Stadium (it is a closed workout). That it’s important for the team to get a chance to practice against someone different.
However.
“I feel like I always want to play, Anytime I can step between the white lines, I don’t care if it’s in the parking lot, I love playing the game,” Wilson said. “The reality is I’m always ready to play, but that’s always coach’s decision.”
