Police arrested 25 pro-Palestinian demonstrators on the UCLA campus late Monday evening.

It started around 2 p.m. when the Students for Justice in Palestine held a vigil for the Palestinians killed in the Israel-Hamas war,  according to KCAL News. The outlet reported that some demonstrators carried what appeared to be fake dead bodies.

There were also some students seen setting up tents outside Royce Hall.

According to the Daily Bruin, the student-run newspaper, UCPD declared the encampment in Dickinson Plaza had been declared unlawful.

KNX News’ Pete Demetriou reported that around 6 p.m., the demonstrators were given 10 minutes to leave or they would be arrested. The group dismantled the tents and went to Dodd Hall.

Around 7 p.m., protestors reportedly barricaded the entrances to Shapiro Courtyard, the Daily Bruin reported.

At 8 p.m., police arrested 25 demonstrators for suspicion of willful disruption of university operations, according to City News Service. Demonstrators were cited and told to stay away from the UCLA campus for 14 days.

A UCPD lieutenant declared the assembly unlawful just after 8:30 p.m. and told protestors they had 10 minutes to leave, according to the Daily Bruin.

Around 8:45 p.m., protestors called for a medic, saying someone suffered a head injury, the student-run newspaper wrote on X. ABC 7 reported that a security officer was also treated for injuries.

Just after midnight, police fired pepper bullets at a crowd of about 50 people.
Crowds dispersed shortly after.

This comes as students are taking final exams and graduation is scheduled for Friday.

Maya, a student on campus, told KNX News’ Jon Baird she was surprised the protestors came back.

“With all the security around I figured they wouldn’t come back,” she said.

Another student said the protests take a toll on other students.

“Just because, like, on top of it being finals season and you're already stressed with your exams,” she said.

The latest clash comes over a month after officers dismantled a pro-Paletsinian encampment at UCLA and arrested 200 people.
