DETROIT (WWJ) - "Beverly Hills Cop" is returning to Detroit with production crews announcing Wednesday that scenes from the fourth installment of the blockbuster franchise are scheduled to film next week.

Eddie Murphy returns in Netflix's "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley" as Detroit police detective Axel Foley who first became a household name almost 40 yeas ago when the first film hit theaters in 1984.

The film capitulated to critical acclaim, raking in $234 million at the North American domestic box office, according to Box Office Mojo. It has since spawned off three sequels with the fourth now eyeing the Motor City.

Production for the newest movie has been ongoing for several months after spending decades in limbo and now moves to Detroit after residents in Detroit's Capitol Park Historic District received flyers saying stunt performances for "Beverly Hills: Axel F" are due to film Sunday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 2.

"Stunt driving will take place in this scene. Please be aware of simulated car crashes, smoke effects and sparks may occur," the flyer outlines. "Please do not be alarmed. Representatives from both the Detroit Fire Department and the Detroit Police Department will be on site as we perform these special effects and stunts."

In the notice provided by Netflix Productions, a no parking/tow zone will be established at the following areas to allow essential vehicles to park and store equipment:

● Both sides of northbound Washington Boulevard from State Street to Grand River Avenue from 7 a.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Dec. 2.

● The alley between Shelby Street and Washington Boulevard from State Street to Grand River Avenue (closed 7 a.m. Monday-6 p.m. Dec. 2).

"We realize that we are guests in your neighborhood and will conduct ourselves as such," the notice continues. "Our goal is to make this a positive experience for everyone involved. We appreciate your cooperation and help in keeping film production in the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan."

There is currently no word if Murphy or co-stars Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, Taylour Paige, Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Bronson Pinchot will be on site.

Murphy was photographed recently in a Ford Bronco wearing his character's iconic Detroit Lions varsity jacket while on set in Los Angeles.
