Ahead of Saturday’s No Kings Protest, Caltrans has installed metal gates on some on-ramps and off-ramps of the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
The gates were installed by 4 a.m. on Friday.
“These are a protective safety measure that came as a request from [the] California Highway Patrol,” Diana Jimenez, spokesperson for Caltrans, told KNX News’ Jon Baird.

Caltrans officials will work with the CHP to decide when to close the gates.
More than 50,000 people are expected to attend Saturday’s protest, which kicks off at 2 p.m. at Gloria Grand Park Molina Park.
