The car was apparently driving on the wrong side of the road when it jumped the curb and went into the residence, the Los Angeles Fire Police to NBC Los Angeles.

A witness told the station she heard the driver screaming.

"I was like oh my god, because the person who was diving, he was screaming insanely, like, 'oh my God, I’m hurt. Help me, help me,'" Maria Banuelos told NBC L.A.

The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
The woman died on the scene.

The people inside the residence were unharmed.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
