Compton homeowner fatally shoots alleged robber with knife

COMPTON, Calif. (KNX) — A Compton man shot and killed a knife-wielding robber who confronted him Tuesday morning in front of his home, according to investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators said the shooting happened around 6:15 a.m. near the 1500 block of W. 156th Street.

The homeowner walked out of his residence to get into his vehicle in the driveway when he was approached by a man with a knife attempting to rob him, according to an LASD news release.

The homeowner, who was armed with a firearm, shot the suspect. The alleged robber, who was described by authorities as a Hispanic male in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Investigators recovered the homeowner’s firearm and a knife at the scene, the news release said.

Authorities said the homeowner was “cooperative” and is currently being questioned by homicide investigators.
