A noise complaint during the Knicks' victory led to police fatally shooting a family dog in Canoga Park.
It happened on Saturday night in an apartment complex on Jordan Ave. According to the LAPD, officers responded to the area after getting a reported call of a “screaming woman.”
Marie Marseille, who is from New York, told Fox 11 she was watching the Knicks celebrate their win with her two-year-old Golden Bernedoodle, Jameson, when the police arrived. She said the officers told her to “put the dog away,” and that while she was trying to do so, Jameson went outside and toward one of the officers.
“The next thing I know, Jameson is lying on the ground," Marseille told the outlet. "But Jameson wasn’t baring his teeth, he wasn’t growling, he wasn’t aggressive, he wasn’t barking. He was just moving toward the officer."
In their press release, officers say the dog “charged at one of the officers,” which led to the officer shooting the dog.
A GoFundMe was created for the dog’s owner.
The investigation is ongoing.
