LOS ANGELES (KNX) - Billionaire Elon Musk endorsed Rick Caruso for Los Angeles mayor on Friday morning.
“Los Angeles is fortunate to have someone like Rick Caruso running for mayor,” the Tesla co-founder tweeted. “He’s awesome.”
Musk added in another tweet that it’s “rare” for him to endorse political candidates, describing his political leanings as moderate.
“Executive competence is super underrated in politics – we should care about that a lot more!” he said.
His endorsement comes a couple weeks after saying he can no longer support the Democratic Party, calling them “the party of division and hate.”
One month before officially announcing his campaign, Caruso announced that he changed his voter registration to Democrat but said that he won’t be a “typical Democrat.”
“I will be a pro-centrist, pro-jobs, pro-public safety Democrat," he said.
Caruso has also received endorsements from Kris Jenner, Snoop Dogg and “Sweet Alice” Harris.
