Two cats dead, several animals injured following blaze at East Hollywood pet shop

LOS ANGELES (KNX) - A fire at an East Hollywood pet store Wednesday left two cats dead and several animals injured.

The fire happened before 6:20 p.m. at Pet Joy on N. Virgil Avenue, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Fire officials rescued nine dogs and five cats from inside the store; however, two cats died on scene, according to City News Service.

The remaining animals were treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
